HEALTH

Mother Jnanamma Charitable Trust

Health is at the heart of everything we do at Mother Jnanamma Charitable Trust (MJCT). We believe that access to health care is not a privilege, but a right—especially for the most vulnerable segments of our society. Our health programs are designed to deliver preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative care to underserved and marginalized communities in Palnadu District and surrounding rural regions of Andhra Pradesh.

Our efforts are community-driven, inclusive, and sustainable, addressing health in its broadest sense—physical, mental, emotional, and environmental.

Who We Serve

We provide specialized health interventions for:

  • 🧒 Children with Disabilities
Including those with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, speech and hearing impairments, and visual challenges. Our services include early identification, special education, therapeutic support, and assistive devices such as hearing aids, walkers, and wheelchairs.
  • 👵 Elderly Persons in Need of Care
Through our Old Age Home and outreach services, we support elderly individuals who are destitute, abandoned, or in need of medical and emotional care. Services include regular health checkups, nutritious meals, hygiene support, and recreational activities.
  • 👩 Women in Rural Communities
We empower women through targeted health programs covering menstrual hygiene, prenatal and postnatal care, anemia awareness, safe drinking water, balanced nutrition, and sanitation awareness. Special workshops and rallies are conducted to address taboo topics and promote health-seeking behavior.
  • 🧠 Individuals Needing Mental Health Support
Mental well-being is a key focus of our interventions. We offer counseling, behavioral therapy, group support sessions, and peer mentoring. Trained counselors engage in school and community-based mental health awareness programs.
  • 🚭 Substance Abusers and Addicts
Through our 15-Bedded Drug De-Addiction cum Rehabilitation Centre (IRCA-supported), we provide detoxification, counseling, therapy, rehabilitation, and follow-up care to individuals struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. This model supports not just individuals, but also families affected by substance abuse.

Our Key Activities and Programs

  • 🩺 Mobile Medical Camps
Conducted in remote villages to ensure access to primary health care, diagnostics, and referrals.
  • 🧘 Yoga and Wellness Sessions
Daily yoga, breathing exercises, and meditation are introduced as part of lifestyle-based healing for children, the elderly, and persons recovering from addiction.
  • 🎒 Health Education and Awareness Drives
Campaigns on personal hygiene, seasonal diseases, vaccination, nutrition, and non-communicable disease prevention are regularly organized in schools and communities.
  • 🚌 Excursions and Exposure Visits
Educational and recreational trips for children with disabilities and elderly residents to improve mental health, increase social engagement, and enhance general awareness.
  • 🧾 Individual Case Monitoring
Each beneficiary’s progress is documented and reviewed regularly. Teachers, therapists, and caregivers collaborate weekly to assess the needs and improvements of every individual, ensuring a personalized and evolving care plan.
  • 🔁 Referral and Linkage Services
We work in collaboration with government hospitals, private practitioners, and public health departments to ensure timely referrals, surgeries, assistive devices, and advanced treatments for those in need.

Impact

Over the years, MJCT has served thousands of vulnerable individuals through its health and disability services. Our efforts have led to:

  • Improved quality of life for children with disabilities
  • Better maternal and child health indicators in rural communities
  • Reduced stigma around mental health and addiction
  • Empowered women with health knowledge and confidence
  • A growing network of health and rehabilitation stakeholders across the district
